About Me

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a fascination for all things historical. This passion for learning about the past led me to pursue a degree in history and a career in the museum field. My love of history is matched only by my sense of wanderlust. I love to travel and am always thinking about or planning my next trip. My first real travel experience abroad was on a high school trip during which I had the opportunity to visit France and Italy for the first time. It was the start of a life-long passion for travel.

I’m a meticulous planner and spend countless hours researching and reading up on my chosen destinations in the weeks and months leading up to my trips. As someone who loves history, seeking out interesting historical sites, museums, and educational experiences is always a top priority. I’ve read many a travel guide and visited countless travel blogs and websites over the years but never really found one that catered specifically to history nerds like me so I decided to start one.

I recently moved from Canada to Europe where I can indulge my passion for history and travel even further. Moving abroad is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream and I’m beyond grateful to have been afforded this opportunity. Living in Europe has inspired me to pursue another dream – creating this blog. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and as I’m embarking on a brand new chapter in my life, it feels like the time is right.

Things I Love

Photography

My interest in photography grew out of my love of travel and my desire to capture and share the beautiful places I visit. In 2015, I bought my first DSLR camera and started taking my photography more seriously. I’m mostly self-taught and am continuously learning and growing my photography skills. All of the photos you see on the blog are my own unless otherwise noted.

Museums

As a student of history, museums are one of my favourite places, so much so that I even trained to be a museum technician once upon a time. I have had some wonderful opportunities to work in museums over the years and having that behind-the-scenes experience has only enhanced my appreciation for them. When I’m travelling, museums are always on the itinerary.

Books

Books have a way of transporting you to another time and place in much the same way that travelling to historical places does. I’ve been an avid reader as far back as I can remember. I read widely across many different genres but of course, history and historical fiction are particular favourites. I worked for many years as a bookseller so talking about and recommending books is something I love to do.
